Hello.

I'm Karen, a senior designer from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Communication with Honours in 2009 from the University of Tasmania, I have had my own freelance design practice, working on a wide variety of projects from branding, festivals, and events, to corporate communications.

From 2010–2013, I lectured and tutored Visual Communication and Narrative Illustration at the University of Tasmania, College of the Arts.

In 2014–2015, I moved to the UK and worked for Oliver Marketing on the PepsiCo UK account, designing for brands such as Doritos, Walkers Crisps, Sunbites, Tropicana, and Quaker Oats.

I worked at the Tasmanian advertising agency Redjelly Australia, first as a freelancer in 2011, then taking a permanent position as Senior Designer in 2016 and Junior Art Director in 2018, working on many national brands including Countdown NZ, Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s.

From 2020 to 2022 I worked as the Campaign Coordinator and then Brand Manager at the University of Tasmania, managing a team of 12 and leading the university’s brand strategy and creative outputs.

I am currently at Before Creative, working as a Senior Creative on for Tasmanian clients including RACT and City of Hobart.

Design and theatre are two of my greatest loves. As well as performing in local productions, I have produced 11 musicals in Hobart with my theatre company Bijou Creative: The Boy Friend, Little Women, Ordinary Days, The Hatpin, Heathers, Chicago, Ruthless!, Sweeney Todd, Carrie, Ladies in Black and My Fair Lady.
